Modern classic: Champagne Carbon announces multi-year partnership with DTM

DTM’s umbrella organisation ITR GmbH is delighted to confirm that Champagne Carbon has become an official supplier to the series.

The French brand, official Champagne supplier and partner for FIA Formula 1 World Championship and car manufacturer Bugatti, will be used during every podium ceremony in 2019 – not only for DTM, but all its weekend support races, including the all-new W Series, Porsche’s one-make category, and many more.

Despite descending from five generations of champagne wine-growers Alexandre Mea, Carbon’s founder, chose to challenge France’s most venerated and distinguished Champagne traditions, building on their craft and experience to develop a uniquely packaged product with a strong and unconventional identity.

Futuristic-handmade carbon-fibre packaging

Alexandre worked extensively across many years to develop the unique taste and character of Carbon, creating his own Maison — Chardonnay is extensively present in Carbon’s cuvées, this grape variety provides its distinct flavour and identity. And while the futuristic-handmade carbon-fibre packaging successfully captures the modern essence of the brand, the product within retains all the finesse and character that a wine from the region can offer.

For 2019, the DTM blends history with modernity: its three storied automotive brands: Aston Martin, Audi and BMW, each one perfectly embodying a fusion of technology, elegance and refinement; and its radical rewriting of its rulebook has ushered in an exciting new era in turbo-charged technology, in turn creating the fastest DTM cars ever.

Alexandre Mea, CEO of Champagne Carbon said:

“Since the notion of spraying champagne as an act of celebration was invented, by Dan Gurney at Le Mans in 1967, it has become a symbolic totem of the motorsport world and an internationally renowned means to convey joy and excitement.

“Our new partnership with the DTM is entirely fitting, and further deepens our already blossoming portfolio within international motorsport and the luxury automotive sector.

“As we head into this multi-year partnership together, we’re thrilled to be joining DTM’s exciting journey as the greatest tin-top series in the world.

“We’ll be celebrating every moment.”

Achim Kostron, ITR GmbH Managing Director, added:

“Our new partnership with Champagne Carbon perfectly underlines the premium nature of the DTM.

“With its emphasis on challenging convention and reinterpreting tradition, Carbon also neatly aligns with our aims to develop and grow DTM in exciting new and technological directions, while retaining its heritage and ‘pure racing’ DNA.

“Our three blue-riband automotive manufacturers and 18 world-class drivers are all imminently set for a hugely exciting and closely fought series, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with Champagne Carbon all those moments of thrill and majesty that we know the DTM delivers.”a
