Tied on points! Kelvin van der Linde draws level against Lawson with fourth win
Maximum excitement in DTM: with 188 points, Kelvin van der Linde and Liam Lawson are tied in the lead of the drivers’ standings. Marco Wittmann and Maximilian Götz also are tied on points at 165 each.
With his fourth win of the season, Kelvin van der Linde has made up a 15-point deficit against Lawson. In the 13th of this season’s 16 races at Hockenheim, the South African drove the Audi of the Kempten-based ABT Sportsline team from pole position to a commanding win.
Behind Kelvin van der Linde, Alex Albon (THA) finished second with the AlphaTauri Ferrari. His teammate Lawson lost third place to van der Linde’s teammate Mike Rockenfeller on the final lap. Behind Lawson in fourth, Götz with the HRT Mercedes-AMG scored ten points for the championship for finishing fifth. Two-time DTM champion Marco Wittmann, meanwhile, had bad luck. On the opening lap already, Wittmann, who was second in the standings going into the race, innocently became involved in a collision and was forced to retire later on.
The 14th race of the season gets underway on Sunday at 1.30pm (live on SAT.1 from 1pm). The DTM finale follows within only one week at Norisring.
