The drivers were treated to dry but dusty road conditions with fans turning out in great numbers to enjoy the shakedown, where the Priority drivers made the last minute perfections to their cars.

Local favourite and Hyundai Shell Mobis WRT’s duo Theirry Neuville with Martijn Wydaege topped the shakedown with a time of 4:22.5, a time that he set on his third run.

Neuville had started strongly topping the first run with a time of 4:31.9 before teammate Ott Tänak and Martin Järveoja topped the second run with a time of 4:25.1.

Tänak and Järveoja would end up with the second-best time, setting their fastest run on their third attempt with a time of 4:23.5, 0.8 seconds off their teammates.

Third came the reigning world champions with Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT’s Sébastien Ogier and Julian Ingrassia before their Toyota teammates, Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin; and Kalle Rovenperä and Jonne Halttunen.

Adrien Fourmaux and Renaud Jamoul were the leading M-Sport Ford runners and were the only WRC1 crew to take four runs. Their time of 4:28.8 was good enough for seventh.

Katsuta Takamoto and Keaton Williams (Toyota) were eighth ahead of Gus Greensmith and Chris Patterson (Ford).

Jari Huttunen and Mikko Lukka were 10th and the leading WRC2 entry with their new Hyundai i20 N Rally2. Their time of 4:43.1 beat Teemu Sunninen and Mikko Markkula’s Ford and Olver Solberg and Aaron Johnston’s Hyundai, who both set a time of 4:44.0.

Belgian Davey Vanneste and Kris D’alleine set the fastest time in WRC3 in their Citroën C3 Rally2.
Former Ypres winners did not set a representative time after problems on their shakedown runs.

The first stage for the Renties Ypres Rally Belgium gets underway with the 15.00km Reninge-Vleteren test that gets underway at 13:36 local time.
