An emotional day for 50th anniversary of Alfa Romeo Museum

Yesterday was a day of emotions, pride and belonging at the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese; it brought together different generations, cultures and countries in the name of authentic passion and a visceral bond with the Biscione brand. The special aspect was the celebrations of two symbolic anniversaries, which tell the same story from different perspectives: the 116th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, founded in Milan in 1910 and which has become a global icon of motoring, and the 50th of the Museum that preserves its memory, values, iconic models and sporting feats.

A memorable, intense event involving hundreds of cars from the past and present, as well as thousands of enthusiasts from all over the world, including members of the 300 official clubs scattered around the four corners of the globe. After all, the bond between the Italian brand and its fans has always been unique in the automotive scene: a profound, authentic relationship that has given rise to a significant global community, further strengthening Alfa Romeo's status as a love brand.

The leading lights at the event included the new 33 Stradale and Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa, developed as part of the BOTTEGAFUORISERIE universe. The former, the fascinating two-seater coupé made in only 33 units, combines heritage and the future, and is produced according to a unique artisanal process with the highest quality standards and obsessive attention to detail. Alongside, the new limited series of ten units, all of which have already been sold, and the first result of the partnership between Alfa Romeo and Luna Rossa, two outstanding Made in Italy undertakings due to face the Louis Vuitton 38th America's Cup together in the iconic Bay of Naples in 2027.

Enthusiasm and curiosity were also aroused by racing cars from the Scuderia del Portello, including the Formula 1 Alfa Romeo 183T single-seater on static display, the GTAM engaged in dynamic demonstrations and the single-seater Giulietta Spider “Sebring,” which also featured at the flashmob of enthusiasts. To complete the picture, the Italian Alfa Romeo Register (RIAR) brought to the event three Spider models – pure celebrations of the pleasure of open-air driving – whereas the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy powered by Scuderia de Adamich put on display a powerful Giulia Quadrifoglio in a dedicated livery, alongside a magnificent Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 V6 – belonging to the Museum's collection – which remains one of the Alfisti fandom's best-loved cars. The pairing of these two cars embodies the Biscione brand’s innate attitude to sportiness and high performance, which translate into an engaging and visceral driving experience in everyday life.

The spotlight was on the Alfa Romeo Luna Rossa motorhome – in its first appearance since the recent Preliminary Regatta Sardinia – which accompanied the 33 Stradale at the head of the parade, flanked by the Giulia Quadrifoglio Luna Rossa. Adding further to the event was a special talk with Vittorio Ferro, Head of Marketing at Luna Rossa, focusing on “A Day at the Luna Rossa Base in Cagliari”. During the meet, a pop-up store also opened inside the Museum, where visitors could admire the current line-up and request information from the dedicated staff. This served as the most concrete testimony of the continuous dialogue between the heritage kept in the exhibition halls and today's Alfa Romeo, which continues to evolve without sacrificing its identity and its values of sportiness and beauty.

Fully refurbished and reopened to the public in 2015, the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese represents the heart of the brand's memory and is one of the most important automotive museums in Europe, welcoming as it does over 100,000 visitors from 120 countries every year. The permanent exhibition is spread over three thematic levels – Timeline, Beauty and Speed – and houses 70 pieces that have marked out the brand’s history: from the first A.L.F.A. 24 HP to Juan Manuel Fangio's Formula 1 cars, via the legendary Mille Miglia and the epic Autodelta. Also open to the public were spaces focusing on aeronautical production, the historic collaboration with the Carabinieri and, since 2020, the Collection area, where over 200 cars not on display are kept, together with engines, prototypes, trophies, models and archive materials. Located within the museum complex, the Documentation Center holds over six linear kilometers of archives and responds to around 10,000 research requests every year. Temporary exhibitions, events, conferences and the constant relationship with the official clubs make it a lively, constantly changing place, where the past continues to inspire the present and to point the way towards Alfa Romeo’s future.
